HMRC Refund Scams

Received an email regarding an HMRC refund? ..... it's a scam.

Those emails informing tax payers that they are due a refund have unfortunately resurfaced again.

Although on first glance they seem genuine, they are in fact one of the many ways fraudsters are using to gain your personal details including your bank details. Just so you know the HMRC do not inform people of refunds via email!!

These scam emails usually contain something to the effect of:

"Following an upgrade to our computer system.....you have made overpayments.....due to a high volume of refunds you must make an online application.....the telephone helpline is unable to assist.....etc, etc."

PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW THE EMAIL'S INSTRUCTIONS.

For more information and examples of this, please follow the HMRC website link below (which we promise is genuine!):
